The focus of Emergency Department Volunteers is to provide comfort and service to Emergency Department patients and their families keeping inline with our Commitment to Care standards. They serve as the go between for patients, families, and guest services and ED staff, ensuring that the patients needs are met.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provides excellent customer service at all times.
  • Treats every person with respect, concern, and hospitality regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, or sociological background.
  • Assists in providing a caring and comforting atmosphere for patients and families. Make rounds on patients and families in the rooms/waiting area seeing that needs are met.
  • Assists guest services and ED staff by communicating with patients and families, running errands, giving directions, assisting with transportation of patients.

This is a great experience for volunteers interested in learning more about the medical field. Volunteers will gain understanding into the inner-workings of Hospitals and Emergency Departments.
