This is a complex position that will support staff on the Mother Baby Post-Partum unit. Volunteers in this position will be cross-trained in nursery to offer additional support as needed. Position Duties: Light administrative work such as putting folders together Set up room for post-delivery admission Bring supplies to patients (more diapers, pacifiers, ice water, max pads/mesh underwear, etc.) Infection control: sanitize high touch surfaces and family center rooms, ensure hand sanitizers are fully stocked, monitor that masks protocol is being followed by visitors. Round/sanitize wheel chairs when needed Transportation: assist with patient discharge, transport baby to and from mom following proper transportation guidelines Additional help in the Newborn Nursery as needed Requirements/Prerequisites: 18 years or older 6 month commitment prior experience with newborns/infants Time: Monday-Sunday 11am-2pm and 2pm-5pm Training: Shadow nursery and/or experience volunteer at least twice before doing solo shift Annual Newborn Nursery Review

Eucharistic Minister Volunteers work with United Hospital Father Mike Monogue and Spiritual Care to visit Catholic patients and administer the Eucharist for those that wish to receive Holy Communion Time Shifts are 2 hours and flexible to your schedule. Training Eucharistic Minister Volunteers are trained for Eucharistic Ministry at their current parish or by United Hospital Chaplain Father Mike Monogue. Each Eucharistic Minister receives a three year commission to serve as a Eucharistic Minister from Father Mike. This commission is renewed every three years. After completing onboarding for the United Hospital volunteer program, Eucharistic Minister volunteers are paired with seasoned Eucharistic Minister volunteer and shadows them until they are comfortable to be on their own. *COVID-19: Eucharistic Minister Volunteers must wear surgical mask and eye protection (United Hospital provides both). Volunteers do not enter rooms on precaution or visit COVID positive patients. Show that you care and make a difference by volunteering to support unit staff with non-patient care related tasks. Gain a unique and invaluable perspective on health and make meaningful connections with both staff and patients. The unit support volunteer supports staff by keeping supply room stocked, providing a friendly face to patients, running errands throughout the hospital, and assisting with discharging patients. Current Units with availability: Cardio ICU Unit FULL Station 3500/3940 is a 26 bed intermediate care plus 6 bed ICU unit. We care for cardiac telemetry patients, intermediate care, and post-cardiac surgical ICU patients. Shifts: Tuesdays and Thursdays 12pm-3pm Cardiac Telemetry Unit FULL The Cardiac 3300/3400 unit is a 44-bed cardiac telemetry unit with 22 beds on each side. "We are a very busy unit with great staff who will be so grateful to have support from a volunteer." Shifts: Tuesdays and Thursdays 12pm-3pm Neuro/Spine Unit FULL The neuro/spine unit is a 32 bed unit caring for patients who have had strokes and spine surgery. The team values their positive atmosphere and culture of teamwork to ensure patients have a positive experience. Many of our patients would appreciate the extra time this unit support could provide to play games and keep them company when loved ones are not able to be present. Shifts: Tuesdays and Thursdays 11am-2pm *Age Requirement for Neuro/Spine* volunteers might interact with patients with dementia and other brain disorders, volunteers must be at least 17 years old.
