Be a Tutor in CSV's Afternoon Drop-In High School Science Program

ORGANIZATION: Cambridge School Volunteers, Inc. (CSV)

  • 3 people are interested

Join our small community of after-school tutors at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School, Cambridge's one comprehensive, district level high school. Our staff are on site to supervise the CSV/CRLS Tutoring Center and to provide any needed support to tutors from 3:15 to 4:15 every weekday.

We are piloting a program to engage volunteer tutors who cannot make the weekly time commitment, who will have several absences, or whose schedule may vary from week to week. You may work with a different student (or small set of students) every week. Students, on their part, will be coming on a drop-in basis. This is different from our usual model, in which one high school student pairs with you for tutoring on the same afternoon every week for at least four months. Because the students are coming on a drop-in basis, it is possible you may attend a session and find no students have come on that particular day for your particular subject. In math and science subjects, this would be a rare occurrence.

No prior experience in a school is necessary.
