Our Opportunity:
Winterfest is an annual event held each winter from November through December.. Winterfest Assistants support Gateway Arch Park Foundations events department by helping create a hospitable, informative, and visitor-centered environment. Volunteer roles:
- Greeters at Chestnut and 6 th Street Entrance: Greet guests as they enter the park and answer any questions they may have, i.e. Igloo Village, Smore’s, Skate Shack.
- Greeters at Market and 7 th Street Entrance: Greet guests as they enter the park and answer any questions they may have, i.e., Igloo Village, Smore’s, Skate Shack.
- Rink Greeter/Clean-up: Welcome guests, ensure skate prep area is clear, and collect skate assist/trainers and put in the designated area
- Smore’s Station Helper/Clean-up: Welcome guests and ensure firepits are on, pick up sticks and left-over trash from the area, report any issues to Winterfest staff.
Roles and Responsibilities:
18 or older (younger applicants with parental/guardian approval may be considered). As representatives of The National Park Service and Gateway Arch Park Foundation, volunteers must adhere to the policies, procedures, and code of conduct as outlined in the volunteer handbook provided prior to or during training.
Required Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:
- Excellent communication skills
- A desire to interact with the public and learn more about event planning
- Enthusiasm, friendliness, and a positive attitude
- Respect for confidentiality of the Gateway Arch Park Foundation’s volunteers, partners, members, and donors
- Willingness to take initiative, and voice ideas
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to occasionally lift and move up to forty (40) pounds
Commitment:
The duration of the volunteer term is 4 hours shift for at least 1 day of Winterfest.
Location:
Kiener Plaza is located at 500 Chestnut St. Louis, MO 63101. A volunteer table will be set up for you to check-in and receive instructions for the day. Parking for volunteers is at the Stadium East Lot at 200 Broadway across from Ballpark Village.
Training and Supervision:
- Volunteers may attend the orientation but are not required to for one-time events.
- Training will be conducted by volunteer supervisors or seasoned volunteers at the beginning of the volunteer shift

- Annual volunteer recognition event
- Free parking if needed during volunteer hours
