Our Opportunity: Picnic in Your Park, hosted by Gateway Arch Park Foundation’s Friends Advisory Board, celebrates the beauty of Gateway Arch National Park while raising awareness and critical funds for park conservation, preservation, education, and community programs through the purchase of a gourmet picnic in the park. This position consists of several opportunities including: Event Set-Up Volunteers: The duties of this position include setting up tables, tents, and signs around downtown and throughout Gateway Arch National Park from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Check-in Volunteers: The duties of this position include greeting guests, checking them in, and directing them to pick up their basket from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Greeters: The duties of this position may include greeting guests as they arrive at the park, giving directions on how and where to pick up their baskets, and answering or finding someone to answer any questions they have. Greeters will be stationed in pairs around downtown and the park from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Event Tear- Down Volunteers: The duties of this position include taking down tables, tents, and signs around downtown and throughout Gateway Arch National Park, helping store the items at the Foundation offices, and walking the grounds to collect any trash and debris from the event from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Roles and Responsibilities: Volunteers must be 18 or older. As representatives of The National Park Service and Gateway Arch Park Foundation, volunteers must adhere to the policies, procedures, and code of conduct as outlined in the volunteer handbook provided prior to or during training. Required Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills: Excellent customer service Familiarity with downtown St. Louis and Gateway Arch National Park grounds Enthusiasm, friendliness, and a positive attitude Respect for confidentiality of the Gateway Arch Park Foundation’s volunteers, partners, members, and donors Willingness to take initiative and voice ideas Commitment: Sunday, June 11 , 2023, with various shifts from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Location: Gateway Arch National Park at 11 N. 4 th Street. Event Check-in location at the North Gateway. Other positions throughout the park. Rock and Roll with Gateway Arch Park Foundation at Rocking the Riverfront June 2- September 2! Our Opportunity: Rocking the Riverfront Hospitality Volunteers support Gateway Arch Park Foundation events department by helping create a hospitable, informative, and visitor-centered environment on the Gateway Arch Riverfront each Friday and Saturday during the summer June 2 - September 2. The primary duties for volunteers at Rocking the Riverfront are to staff an information tent on the riverfront overlook and share information about Gateway Arch Park Foundation and happenings in Downtown St. Louis. Volunteers may also assist visitors with various yard games available at the event. All volunteers are required to follow park and city guidelines while volunteering. Roles and Responsibilities: 18 or older (younger applicants with parental/guardian approval may be considered). As representatives of The National Park Service and Gateway Arch Park Foundation, volunteers must adhere to the policies, procedures, and code of conduct as outlined in the volunteer handbook provided prior to or during training. Our Opportunity: Pride Parade Volunteers support Gateway Arch Park Foundation, Gateway Arch National Park, and Jefferson National Expansion Association to share our allyship with the LGBTQIA+ community. During the Pride Parade, volunteers will spend time at the Gateway Arch Park Foundation tent sharing information about the organization and handing out giveaways and/or walking/riding in our float during the parade. T-shirts and training about the foundation will be provided. Roles and Responsibilities: 18 or older (younger applicants with parental/guardian approval may be considered). Our Opportunity: Security Checkpoint Assistant Volunteers help ensure a smooth and friendly experience while going through the security process. Volunteer duties may include informing visitors of the security requirements (place all items in the security bins, remove all items from pockets, remove belts), answering questions about whether items are permitted through security or not, directing visitors to the magnetometer, and/or helping visitors gather their belongings after they have passed through security. Roles and Responsibilities: 18 or older (younger applicants with parental/guardian approval may be considered). As representatives of The National Park Service and Gateway Arch Park Foundation, volunteers must adhere to the policies, procedures, and code of conduct as outlined in the volunteer handbook provided prior to or during training. This is NPS policy as outlined in the Operational Leadership training. Commitment: Volunteers must commit to serving at least one 4-hour shift per month. Parking for volunteers is at the Stadium East Lot at 200 Broadway across from Ballpark Village or the Kiener West Lot at 604 Pine Street. Before each scheduled shift, you will receive an email letting you know where to park that day. Training and Supervision: Volunteers must attend orientation onsite. Orientation sessions occur quarterly. Training will be conducted by volunteer supervisors or seasoned volunteers on the first day of each volunteer’s shift and will vary depending on the position, supervisor, and personal learning styles.
