One of New York City’s largest and most comprehensive social services agencies, BRC serves men and women who are homeless, or at risk of becoming so. We are committed to our mission to help the homeless of New York City and are always happy to hear from others who have the same passion and desire to make a difference. Caring people like you are critical in allowing us to continue in our work.
Each holiday season, we host several celebrations at pre-Christmas and Christmas Day events at various programs throughout Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and the Bronx. At the moment, we are actively seeking help at various celebrations both on Christmas Day, and in the days just prior.
If interested, getting started as a volunteer is a simple one, though there is a process in place prior to obtaining any assignments. If you and all members of your party would please take a moment to complete our New Volunteer Registration form; copy and paste the following URL in your web browser: https://tinyurl.com/2p8ujsad You can also simply visit our website at www.brc.org/volunteer When filling out the form, please be sure to indicate your interest in the holiday season! Once your form has been received, you will receive an invitation to our next scheduled New Volunteer Orientation so you can learn more about BRC, what we do within the community, and how you can help this holiday and year-round. These sessions are currently hosted via Zoom and are only 45 minutes long. Attendance is required; there are always several to choose from.Please note: Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age or older to participate.
DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, ALL ONSITE VOLUNTEERS MUST ADHERE TO THE FOLLOWING:
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and booster, or the most recent one-injection bivalent vaccine before your assignment - a scan or photo of your vaccination card will suffice.
- Masks are encouraged, but optional, however, should a client ask that you wear one in their presence, you are respectfully asked to honor that request.
