Join our literacy movement!

Words Alive is looking for volunteers to help prepare craft materials for their Family Literacy program which supports low-income and under-served families by providing tips and tricks to make reading a fun, family activity while highlighting the importance of early literacy development. As part of the program, participants read a new book each week and then complete an activity or craft relating to the book they just read. These craft activities will be used for distance-learning programming and will help Words Alive reach an additional 500 families. All skill levels are welcome!

To ensure families can complete the activities in a timely manner, volunteers are needed to help prepare the crafts and activities beforehand. Volunteer duties include cutting out pictures, gluing papers together, sorting pre-cut images, tying yarn, packing paper bags, etc. Words Alive is especially excited for any volunteers willing and able to help them move boxes or lift tables.

Each work and craft party will have a variety of roles-- whether you want to sort craft supplies while seated at a table or move boxes of books so they can get them into the hands of children, Words Alive has something for you!
