JAMS is currently seeking the following:
- A social media / PR intern: This person will manage our Facebook and Instagram accounts, keeping these accounts up to date, fun and interesting. She or he will also explore other social media platforms with which we should get involved in order to help spread the word about our programs. This person will take on a number of public relations tasks, publicizing the mission and programs of JAMS in the community. A creative approach and a self-directed work ethic are greatly appreciated. The bulk of this work can be done by home, but a willingness to meet up periodically is also quite welcome.

- A grant writing intern: We are seeking someone with some grant writing knowledge to help us spearhead our grant writing efforts, researching and applying for grants in order to sustain the organization.

- Music exploration booth volunteers: We are always looking for volunteers to help us staff our music exploration booth, which is an info table with instruments that people can try out. We use this booth as a way to spread the word about the mission and programs of JAMS as well as to meet people who might want to get involved with JAMS, give them the opportunity to try out different instruments, and encourage creativity. We have this booth at various local festivals, so it's a great way to enjoy some fun events while doing something good for your community.

-Other various volunteers: Would you like to help us with any of our programming or our jam nights? Let us know!

- We are also currently seeking board members, so please get in touch if you are interested.

About STAR JASMINE FOUNDATION

Location:

126 COOPER RD, SANTA BARBARA, CA 93109, US

Mission Statement

JAMS provides free and low-cost access to music mentorship, instruction, songwriting workshops, jam sessions and musical production. The goal is to offer this to low-income individuals and at-risk youth as well as adults and children with special needs. We also seek to bring kids and adults from different socioeconomic backgrounds together in the creative process, thus using music as a transformative tool for social change.

Description

  1. Band coaching mentorship: We offer band coaching to young musicians who are forming bands. Our focus is on helping the kids collaborate creatively. We teach them to listen to one another and give each other space in the band so that everyone can contribute to the creative process.
  2. Lessons: Our teachers work with students who cannot afford private music lessons.
  3. Teen JAMS night: Young musicians come together at JAMS to meet one another and connect musically every week.
  4. We want to offer a ten-week after school music program for underserved populations.
  5. We intend to do outreach in facilities that need us the most (i.e. the Braille Institute, Girls Inc., schools in low-income neighborhoods, Sarah House, domestic violence shelters, rehab facilities).
