The Organization for Autism Research (OAR) are currently looking for persons with business, management, and workplace experience to serve as Hire Autism Navigators and help autistic adults refine their resumes and/or cover letters and prepare for job interviews. Hire Autism provides online resources to help job seekers find meaningful employment. We also know that these individuals can use help in finding jobs and all that goes with it. This is where Hire Autism Navigators will play a supporting role.
Navigators will review and provide direct feedback on job seekers’ resumes/cover letters to ensure that they are polished and ready to send to employers. Navigators can also work with job seekers on preparing for job interviews.
NEED-TO-KNOW
The expected volunteer commitment is 1-2 hours per week for 3 months.
Ability to pass a criminal background check
The Navigator role is a virtual volunteer opportunity with interactions conducted via web-based platforms.
Familiarity with autism is a plus, but it is not a prerequisite.
Virtual training consists of a 4-hour curriculum that will be completed over a 2-week period.
After Navigators complete their training and pass a background check, they will be matched with a job seeker to work on job readiness.

Mission Statement
As a leader in volunteerism in New Jersey, Jersey Cares increases the level of meaningful volunteer engagement by creating and managing efficient, impactful projects that address critical community-identified needs.
Description
Jersey Cares works to meet community needs by making volunteering easy and meaningful. We provide flexible, structured, team-based opportunities for volunteers to impact a variety of nonprofit organizations and bring positive change to local communities. Jersey Cares works directly with local organizations to identify their needs, and trains volunteer leaders to manage projects that address those needs. Most projects are ongoing, and volunteers (other than the Project Coordinators) commit to only one day at a time. All of this enables you to volunteer whenever and however fits your interests and schedule, and yet always make a real difference. Simply choose "Volunteer" from the left menu to get started on your volunteering adventure!
