ORGANIZATION: Time's Up

  • 55 people are interested

The mission of the Museum of Reclaimed Urban Space (MoRUS) is to preserve history and promote scholarship of grassroots urban space activism by researching and archiving efforts to create community spaces. We will also exhibit materials that document these actions, to educate people on the political implications of reclaimed space.

All interns must submit a resume and cover letter. This is an unpaid position and you must be willing to contribute at least 15 hours a week for 3 months, but we are really flexible. Almost all interns operate from the front desk of the museum so you must have good greeting skills and some organizing ability.

The social media and web intern will help to publish content on the museum's website and facebook page. They will help promote our events and keep people updated on our various social media platforms.

About Time's Up

Location:

626 E 14th St., New York, NY 10009, US

Mission Statement

TIME'S UP! educates people about the environmental impacts of everyday purchases. We focus on transportation issues in New York City and have been instrumental in involving cyclists and skaters in large, mobile actions.

Description

TIME'S UP! is a grassroots environmental group that has been working on environmental issues for 27 years. Educational outreach and direct action are the two most important aspects of TIME'S UP! We hold more than 100 free outdoor and indoor events each year. Our campaigns range from saving community gardens to promoting non-polluting transportation. In 2012, Time's Up! partnered with the Museum of Reclaimed Urban Space (Morus) in lower east side of Manhattan, which archives the history of the community and gardens, advocating community engagement and sustainable urban design.
