This opportunity is to offer socialization and emotional support. Visiting someone under our hospice care who has memory impairment, can be truly rewarding. Being a safe visitor, who can offer a peaceful presence, reading, listening to music or light conversation. This opportunity would serve by being assigned to visit 1-2x per week for 1 hours. Training will be provided by Silverado hospice, and the Memory care community.

Our hospice volunteers play a critical role in supporting patients. In fact, many of our volunteers are people who benefitted from volunteer support when they cared for a loved one on hospice. People who have experienced hospice uniquely know how important these weeks and months are for patients and loved ones. It takes a special calling to be with someone when they are reaching end of life.

With help from people like you, we can ensure that families have a helping hand when they need it most. Volunteers can help in many ways

If you would like to know more about how you can volunteer for this or another opportunity please give Silverado Hospice, Volunteer Services program Manager, Valerie Lomeli 888-328-5660.

Mission Statement

It is our mission to affirm the cycle of life by enhancing the quality of living for those at the end of life. The Silverado standard is to care compassionately for patients and families and to empower those we serve to have quality of life options that afford them comfort and dignity.

Description

Silverado Hospice honors the value of each life by empowering the patient and family to make supported choices in end-of-life care, enhancing comfort, relieving suffering and supporting effective grieving. We believe that Hospice patients have the right to continue life to the fullest extent possible according to their circumstances, and in fostering opportunities for growth and fulfillment. We further recognize patients and families decision-making rights in relation to continuing medical treatments and their right to withdraw treatment whose benefits are outweighed by their burdens. Silverado believes in equal opportunity and non-discrimination for our clients, our associates, and our community.
