ORGANIZATION: Rescuing Leftover Cuisine Inc

About the organization:

Rescuing Leftover Cuisine, Inc. ("RLC") is a non-profit food rescue organization that delivers excess food from food businesses and corporations to local human service agencies such as homeless shelters and soup kitchens to feed the hungry. We have thus far delivered over 6 million pounds of food with the lowest cost per delivery in the industry. Our business model is centered around four stages: (1) proactively seek out businesses with leftover food for partnerships, (2) deliver excess, wholesome food directly to local agencies, (3) use our expertise in food rescue to consult each partner different ways to reduce food waste, (4) partners successfully graduate from the RLC food rescue program with reduced food cost and food waste.

About the role:

Associate Board members dedicate their time, talents, networks, and resources to raise awareness and support for RLC.

Responsibilities:

Areas of focus will be branding, press support, fundraising, and food donor outreach

Give/Get of $1,000 over the course of the year

Expected time commitment is 2-5 hours/week

Rescuing Leftover Cuisine (RLC) is a nonprofit organization committed to fighting food insecurity and preventing wasted food. We have cultivated a network of dedicated food rescuers who bring food directly from our food donors to nonprofit recipients, letting neighbors help neighbors while reaping the environmental and economic benefits of reducing wasted food. Founded in 2013, our simple, but elegant model has saved over 8 million pounds of food since our inception.
