Volunteers Needed for After-School Reading Program!

Do you have a passion for literacy and want to make a meaningful impact in your community? We are looking for dedicated volunteers for our Project Reading Program!

What We Do:
Our program focuses on helping students improve their reading skills and develop a love for literature in a supportive and engaging environment.

Volunteer Commitment:

  • Time: Once a week for one hour.
  • Focus: Work with the same student each week to provide consistent support and encouragement.
  • Location: We work with you to find a school that is convenient

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist your student with reading and comprehension activities.
  • Foster a positive and encouraging atmosphere.
  • Engage in fun discussions about stories and encourage a love for reading.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Friendly and patient individuals who enjoy working with children.
  • No previous experience is required; just a willingness to learn and support students.
  • Commitment to attend weekly sessions during the school year.

Training and Support:

  • Comprehensive training provided before starting.
  • All necessary materials will be supplied.
  • Onsite staff will be available for assistance and guidance during sessions.
  • Substitute tutors are available for any sessions you may miss, ensuring your student continues to receive support.

Description

Learning centers enable adult students to prepare to earn their High School Equivalency (HSE, past: GED) and strengthen basic skills for job training and post secondary education. One-on-one tutoring helps adults strengthen their basic reading, math, and language skills.

  • Must be able to pass a background check, high school diploma, GED or are currently in high school.
