We are seeking volunteers to visit our patients living in a local nursing home; activities such as chatting, watching TV, reading, and listening to music are ideal. The time commitment is 1-3hrs per week, with the schedule being flexible. Volunteers must be 18yrs old or older.
*All volunteers must be vaccinated for Covid-19, and will be required to have a physical, drug test, TB testing (Blood Test), and background check, all arranged and paid for by HarmonyCares Hospice. These are Illinois state requirements.

Description
Hospice care is not just for the patient. It also provides emotional support for the entire family. Hospice is a philosophy of caring for patients whose medical conditions are not responding to treatment or for those patients who choose not to seek agressive medical care at the end stage of life. Our program is for patients who are considered terminal and are expected to live six months or less if the disease follows its natural course, although many patients outlive this time frame. Our philosophy focuses on comfort care not currative care. Our goal is for the patient to remain as comfortable and pain-free as possible in their own home or the home of a loved one through the end of life. We also serve patients who are living in long-term and assisted living facilities.
