As a healthcare professional, you know the importance of quality care. During times of disaster, affected families in our shelters need access to basic healthcare. This is only possible through volunteers like you. Train now and bring quality care to those who need it the most!

Interested in deploying as a licensed provider to areas of disaster. This includes health services and mental health providers (RN, MD, LPN, NP, LCSW). This is a 10-day deployment.

Responsibilities

    • Depending on your professional license, provide hands-on physical and mental care for shelter clients to include, but not limited to, assistance with activities of daily living, medicine, wound care, mental health, etc.
    • Advocate for client needs.
    • Complete required virtual self-paced and instructor-led training required for the position (6-9 hours total, depending on position, to be completed within 2 weeks).

Time Commitment

    • Once trained, and upon request, this would be for a consecutive 10-day deployment.
    • This role is for those able and interested in deploying outside of our region to other parts of the country that may need support. The path of a given disaster will determine where Red Cross' precise volunteer needs lie. Accepting this position means that:
      • you have the interest and ability to travel outside of our region to help with a major disaster.
      • You have 10 consecutive days to do so
      • You are comfortable in person (masks may be required)
      • You understand, depending on the disaster, that hardships may apply, such as sleeping in a staff shelter or not having electricity. We will use a pre-deployment health questionnaire to determine your ability to safely deploy.
      • Training needs to be completed within 2 weeks
