Sanctuary Hostel located in Rosarito, MX is a project to create an eco friendly animal shelter/ hostel/ community garden where we will work with other nonprofits in both Mexico and the US specifically San Diego, CA. Our model plans to be self-sustaining in that we will not rely solely on donations and thus not be at risk of returning animals to the streets. We have the land and are working with an architect to design custom buildings.

As we are a brand new non profit organization we want to bring people into our organization to help us make this a successful project that can act as a model for animal rescues worldwide.

We are seeking a volunteer for website development to educate a public audience on the problems we are addressing, our unique solution and offerings, and how they can help. This position is ongoing and offers flexible hours with specific responsibilities defined in collaboration with the Sanctuary Hostel core team. If you are passionate about the welfare of animals and sustainability, please get in touch! Responsibilities include:

  • Develop our website to better explain the problem, our mission, and unique solution
  • Maintain the website to include updated information for the public
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions to discuss website ideas and address any website issues
  • Support integration of web analytics and other applications to enhance the website for the betterment of our mission
  • Attend core team meetings as needed

Capabilities include:

  • Committed to creating and implementing Sanctuary Hostel
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills to convey plans, status issues and ideas with the core team
  • Experience with Wordpress and various website applications applicable to nonprofit, animal rescue, and hostel operations
  • Attentive to website performance and capable of immediate resolution of website content

All Sanctuary Hostel Volunteers:

  • Shall sign a volunteer agreement upon joining the volunteer team.
  • Have a fervent desire to support animals and eco-travelling. Honest, reliable and dedicated to the cause.
  • Use clear and direct communication with no confusion or misunderstanding and comfortable working through conflicts with compassion and respect. Ensures cohesion and effectiveness by driving integrity and openness.

Mission Statement

To create a self-sustained eco-friendly sanctuary where humans and animals can live in peace. By combining a hostel with the opportunity to volunteer with animal rescue, we offer you a place to stay, to help, and to learn about animals so enriching all our lives. You’ll also be able to give back and volunteer with animal rescue teams.


We are building an animal shelter/ hostel/ community garden. Our model aims to be self sufficient so we wont rely on donations in order to care for the animals we rescue. Travelers can stay and volunteer with us in exchange for a bed. The community can learn to grow and cook plant based meals with us.
