Founded in 2018, Close the Gap focuses on mentorship, workshops, project-based learning, financial/resource assistance, and awarding scholarships.

WHY CLOSE THE GAP NEEDS YOU
  • You are passionate about our mission to close the opportunity gap and excited about the opportunity to create a roadmap to people ops excellence.
  • You want to make a difference to bridge the gap for FGLI students and leaders.
  • You will provide leadership for people operations: recruiting, culture, inclusion & belonging.
  • Key responsibilities include assisting hiring managers with recruiting needs, managing internal communications, keeping our volunteering site updated, and overseeing our volunteer retention.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Manage our streamlined ATS (e.g. Notion + Airtable + Slack integration).
  • Collaborate with our operations and leadership teams to identify headcount needs.
  • Manage multiple volunteer requisitions at the same time.
  • Set and maintain SLAs/SOPs to ensure a positive candidate experience.
  • Execute end-to-end recruiting needs, intake, JD review, recruiter screen, debrief, onboarding.
  • Coordinate interview time and debriefs for hiring managers.
  • Develop and manage an onboarding experience that makes every new hire's experience special.
  • Oversee both internal and external volunteer experience. Internal being our core team volunteers (like yourself) and our external volunteers (like mentors).
  • Maintain our annual Inclusion & Belonging survey.
  • For an experienced candidate, we'd like to have you build a resilient People Ops function that will support our 100% volunteer model, which includes hiring and mentoring a team.
WHO YOU ARE
  • Passionate about creating an equitable society.
  • You are a team player who values transparency, accountability, and diversity.
  • You are currently in HR/People Ops/Operations and want to put your experience into the non-profit space and help us scale with care.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to attend weekly team meetings, currently on Thursdays from 8-9:30 pm PT.
  • Ability to commit 10-15 hours weekly.
  • Reliable and dependable team member.
  • Very strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with great outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to set and achieve or exceed goals and meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to advocacy, diversity, and serving the community.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Currently a recruiter, people ops manager, HRBP, or relevant experience
  • Budgeting and headcount planning in a corporate setting
  • 2+ years of people management
  • Past experience volunteering or working with non-profits
