ORGANIZATION: Pathways of Hope

Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic, the Orange County Emergency Volunteer Center (EVC) has been activated to support immediate volunteer needs, including hands-on and virtual opportunities during this disaster.

ABOUT THIS VIRTUAL PROJECT:

During the coronavirus pandemic volunteers are needed to assemble hygiene kits from the safety of your own home as Virtual Volunteers. The first hygiene you make will be distributed to anyone visiting our walk in resource center in Fullerton. We currently see anywhere between 30 and 80 households a day visiting the HUB. Thank you for supporting our community's most vulnerable residents during these difficult times!

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:

Collect Items

You can be a bit creative with the items that you use; however, keep in mind that these bags may be carried around everywhere and thus should not be too heavy. Items that are perfect for these care bags are listed below, but you can be creative and choose what you want to include:

Water bottle

Socks or beanie caps

Tuna (pop-top canned meat) and crackers

Soft granola or cereal bar

Fruit snack or applesauce cup

Crackers with peanut butter or cheese

Gift certificate to fast food

Hand wipes & hand sanitizer

Lotion

Band-Aids

Chapstick

Sunscreen

Comb or small brush

Shampoo/Conditioner

Pack of Kleenex

Maxi pads/Tampons

Toothbrush and toothpaste

Can-opener

Mints, cough drops or gum

Create Kits

Now you are ready to assemble! Host a 'virtual assembling event' with friends and/or coworkers on video conferencing or do it at home with your children. Tip: hotel shampoos & soaps from trips are perfect for bags. Remember to pack the items in a sturdy bag, we recommend using plastic gallon re-sealable bags or cinch sacks.

This information is also posted on our Pathways website at https://www.pohoc.org/remote-volunteering/.
