About Senior Gleaners of San Diego
PO Box 600521, San Diego, CA 92160, US
Our mission is to feed the hungry through agencies in San Diego that qualify their recipients. We GLEAN excess food from private yards, area fields, and grocery stores. Our mission is also to alleviate problems aggravated by lack of nutrition. We do not buy any food. All money raised through grants and donations goes toward our overhead of warehousing the food and driving vans to pick up and distribute the food.
Senior Gleaners has been feeding the hungry in San Diego since 1992. Using the volunteer skills of seniors (age 55 and over), we GLEAN excess food from numerous sources including backyards, farms and grocery stores. This food is then distributed to food-giving agencies throughtout the county. We need volunteers ages 55 and more to help with all aspects of our work.
