Recently, AWARE Food Bank in Woodburn suffered a devastating fire that will close the building for the foreseeable future. Thankfully the building was empty at the time and nobody was hurt, but the damage is extensive and a considerable amount of food was lost.

AWARE is one of the largest pantries in the Food Share partner network and is the primary source of food relief in the Woodburn area. Last year alone, AWARE distributed 1.3 million pounds of food, reaching over 1,500 families every month.

We are committed to continuing to serve the community with minimal disruptions, but we need your help!

How do I get started?

When?

Daytime shifts run from 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Evening shifts run from 4:30 - 7:00 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday, and are held at various locations in the Woodburn community.

Where?

AWARE Food Bank, 152 Arthur St., Woodburn, OR.
Food distributions are temporarily taking place in the parking lot adjacent to the building through Friday, Aug. 27. We are currently working to establish a distribution location near downtown Woodburn to use in the short term while the pantry building is closed.

What will I be doing?

Volunteers will help in many ways including; distributing pre-made food boxes, directing traffic, restocking food and supplies, and much more, all while having a great time!

Can my group volunteer together?

Yes! Our volunteer team will be happy to help you find a shift that is a good fit for your group.

  • 09:00 AM to 12:00 PM
    Morning shifts are held Mon, Tue, Thr, Fri.
  • 04:30 PM to 07:00 PM
    Evening shifts take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays

Description

Every month, more than 46,000 people - including 15,000 children - will access emergency food through the Marion Polk Food Share partner network. This food may be a hot meal served at a shelter, a free community meal served at a church, or an emergency food box from a food pantry. This nutritious food will help children and adults learn, work, and thrive.

  • We would love for volunteers to join us regularly, but volunteering even once or twice is helpful!
