We are seeking neighbors to help our Meals on Wheels kitchen team, which prepares over 800 meals every day for seniors and disabled adults in our community. Don’t know how to cook? No problem! Volunteers in this role will work closely with staff to prepare trays with nutritious food, seal them for distribution, and much more! We’re looking for folks to help out on weekday mornings in the Food Share’s Community Kitchen in northeast Salem. If you’re interested in lending a hand, we’d love to hear from you!

Marion Polk Food Share's Home Delivery Program provides nutritious groceries to our neighbors who are unable to access food at a local pantry. This is a great way to ensure our neighbors have access to delicious and nutritious food! Important details about this opportunity: Volunteers typically deliver twice per month to 3-5 households in Salem and Keizer. Alternative schedules (e.g. deliveries every week) are also available. Deliveries take place every Tuesday. Total time volunteering each shift will last between 1 and 2 hours. Volunteers will use their own vehicles, must be fully insured, and have a current driver's license. Volunteers must pass a background check before they begin delivering. Meals on Wheels is looking for volunteers to deliver meals to housebound seniors and adults with disabilities in our community. We offer meals hand-delivered by volunteers Monday through Friday. Volunteers provide our neighbors with a connection to the community and a warm, friendly smile when they arrive at the door. FAQ’s Q: Who should Volunteer? A: Anyone looking to make a difference! Volunteering is a great opportunity for all community members with flexible schedules. Q: Are there any requirements for volunteers? A: Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age or older, with a valid Oregon driver’s license and auto insurance. Volunteers use their own vehicles to complete deliveries. All Meals on Wheels volunteers will be required to complete a background check. Q: Do I need to have a car? A: Reliable transportation is required. Q: When can I volunteer? A: Meals are delivered between 10:30-12:30, Monday through Friday. Volunteers can deliver as often as they like - once a week, a couple of times a week, or as an on-call driver when extra support is needed. Choose the day and frequency that works best for you. Thanks to community members like you, we can continue to provide support to our network of food pantries throughout Marion and Polk counties. Warehouse volunteers support our warehouse team in the following areas: Volunteer Action Center (VAC) Sort and repack donated food into family sized amounts for our partners. Retail Recovery Sort and repack fresh produce, dairy products, and refrigerated items donated from local grocery stores to ensure only the highest quality food is distributed to our neighbors. We have limited shift capacity and require volunteers to commit to a regular, weekly shift.
