Thank you for your interest in Volunteering with South Florida SPCA.

The first step in joining the volunteer program is to become a member.
Once you become a member, you will need to attend the orientation class to be allowed to volunteer.

Please see the details below for required points of interest.

At this time we are only allowing 10 people max during Orientation due to Covid-19 restrictions.
*Non-approved additional guests are not allowed at this time.*

Orientation will be held from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM outside under a pavilion.

You will be asked to complete the following forms:
Volunteer Waiver w/ Emergency Contact
COVID-19 Waiver
COVID-19 Protocol

Required Attire:
Long Pants ( No Shorts )
Closed Toe Shoes or Boots ( NO Steel Toe )
Face Mask

To Become An Official SFSPCA Volunteer, Please Note:
Volunteers must be members of SFSPCA
The minimum age for volunteers is 12 years old.
Volunteers under 17 must be accompanied by an adult.
Minimum age requirement is 12 years old.

Attending an Orientation and Horse Safety Class is required of all volunteers.

SPACE IS LIMITED.Requests will be taken on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Mission Statement

The mission of the South Florida SPCA is: To rescue, provide medical treatment, shelter, and care for horses and other animals. To rehabilitate the animals and place them in permanent foster homes. To promote the welfare and well-being of animals through education. To educate the public on responsible animal care and ownership and the value of every life.

Description

The main operating program of South Florida SPCA is the rescue of abused and neglected horses and other animals, their care, and rehabilitation.

Other important programs include:

  • Placing recovered animals in appropriate homes for adoption
  • Volunteer programs cover many aspects of working with the animals, their care, and helping the organization
  • Community service hours are offered to anyone who volunteers
  • A variety of educational and community service programs are offered as this is vital to recognizing and preventing abuse and neglect
  • Hands-on programs at our facility are a wonderful learning experience
  • Education to improve the care of horses and other animals in the South Florida area

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 18
  • Orientation or Training
  • There are 3 Levels of Volunteers. Upon completion of Orientation, you will receive a Level 1, red t-shirt when you volunteer. There is no time commitment unless you would like to move up levels. Level 1 & 2 volunteers may only come in on weekends.
  • As it relates to volunteers moving up levels, you are required to complete the number of hours. As a Level 1 Red Shirt and Level 2 Yellow Shirt, you are required to be assigned to a mentor when you reserve a time to come in. Reservations required.
