According to the National Sexual Assault Hotline, every 68 seconds an American is sexually assaulted. Which means, on average, there are 463,634 victims (age 12 or older) of rape and sexual assault each year in the United States.

So what does volunteering in an office setting have to do with ending sexual violence? Well, without a clean, inviting, and organized office we wouldn't have the space for staff, volunteers, and clients to engage with each other in a safe environment. Without properly filed documents, critical time may be spent searching for them instead of with a survivor in a moment of crisis. Without hospital response folders prepared, an advocate dispatched to a call from a law enforcement agency would not have the tools needed to respond efficiently. Without acknowledgement letters to donors sent out in a timely fashion, we may lose out on critical financial support.

Office volunteers are absolutely vital to Riverview Center being able to provide advocacy, therapy, and prevention services for our communities. Direct service isn't for everyone, and that's ok!

During your shift you'll be provided with a checklist of tasks to be completed in the office. Sign in during your scheduled shift, check out the task list, and get started! It's as simple as that.
