Women of Esther Ministries (W.O.E.) is seeking grant writers to showcase their expertise in helping non-profit organizations secure funds from government and non-governmental foundations and organizations who support our mission to combat hunger and homelessness.
It all started with one woman and a desire which she believes the Lord Jesus gave her in the area of service. She saw a need in her community and armed with a passionate desire, and she began feeding the homeless of Chicago out of the truck of her car. On that day, Women of Esther Ministries was born. Now, 16 years later, Women of Esther Ministries (as a 501.c3) has served over 19,000 meals to the homeless of Chicago.
Today, in addition to providing meals to the disenfranchised, Women of Esther Ministries (W.O.E.) works to meet the needs of students in furthering their education and speaks to legislators as an advocate for housing for the homeless.
If you are passionate, results-oriented, and willing to donate your time to help W.O.E. be the hands and feet of Jesus, then this opportunity is for you.
Opportunity Description:
- Study and understand the history, structure, objectives, programs, and financial needs of the organization.
- Research grant opportunities from government and non-government agencies.
- Draft grant proposals and supporting documents based on the funding requirements of the organization.
- Submit proposals to grant coordinators for approval.
- Respond to internal and external queries on drafted and submitted proposals.

Mission Statement
The mission of Women of Esther Ministries (W.O.E.) is to provide safe temporary and transitional housing alternatives, and teach a multitude of skills to empower homeless persons using a holistic approach for healing and self-sufficiency.
Description
Women of Esther (W.O.E.) Ministries has been serving Chicago communities for the past 16-years. It all began out of the trunk of the founder’s car. She saw a need and had the heart and desire to meet the needs of others (one person and one community at a time). W.O.E. fed the hungry and homeless in Roseland for over 10-years, and we partnered with churches in West Lawndale and Auburn Gresham. We also helped them develop sustainable outreach initiatives.
In light of current events (e.g., the pandemic), over 18 million unemployment benefit claims for 1/30/2021, coupled with the temporary expiration of the federal mortgage/rental moratoriums, states, cities, and towns will see a surge in homelessness rates. Again, W.O.E. wants to do its part by offering emergency housing alternatives for people and families experiencing homelessness. Our goal is to provide a safe night’s of rest to 8,050 homeless Chicagoans annually.
