Mission Statement

The mission of Women of Esther Ministries (W.O.E.) is to provide safe temporary and transitional housing alternatives, and teach a multitude of skills to empower homeless persons using a holistic approach for healing and self-sufficiency.

Description

Women of Esther (W.O.E.) Ministries has been serving Chicago communities for the past 16-years. It all began out of the trunk of the founder’s car. She saw a need and had the heart and desire to meet the needs of others (one person and one community at a time). W.O.E. fed the hungry and homeless in Roseland for over 10-years, and we partnered with churches in West Lawndale and Auburn Gresham. We also helped them develop sustainable outreach initiatives.

In light of current events (e.g., the pandemic), over 18 million unemployment benefit claims for 1/30/2021, coupled with the temporary expiration of the federal mortgage/rental moratoriums, states, cities, and towns will see a surge in homelessness rates. Again, W.O.E. wants to do its part by offering emergency housing alternatives for people and families experiencing homelessness. Our goal is to provide a safe night’s of rest to 8,050 homeless Chicagoans annually.
