The Prosthetics Department at the Minneapolis VA is looking for individuals with outstanding customer service skills. These Volunteers greet and direct Veteran patients when they first arrive to the department. Individuals should have attention to detail, can work independently, generally mobile in order to move around the stock room, can lift up to 25 pounds and their customer service skills carry over to the phone as well.
Volunteers will:
Greet and assist patients as they arrive to the department including giving Veterans directions on using the sign-in kiosk.
Retrieve inventory from stock area to provide to the patients.
Gather equipment in stockroom for delivery out to patients.
Assist in light office duties such as putting together mailings, faxing, answering/transferring phone calls and restocking inventory areas.
Learn the basics of provided items (such as walkers, wheelchairs, etc.) so that they can answer questions a patient may have such as how to apply the breaks on a wheelchair.
Current openings for this position are:
Morning shifts 8:00am-12:00pm
Afternoon shifts 12:30pm-4:30pm
Tuesdays
Wednesdays
Thursdays
Fridays
VHA Directive 1193 and VA Handbook 5019 requires that Volunteers in this role have a documented COVID-19 vaccine and Flu vaccine.
