This position is perfect for creative-minded folks who love talking and working with older adults. The Arts and Crafts Volunteer facilitates and brainstorms new site-related craft ideas.

Location:

Fort Independence Older Adult Center, The Bronx, NY 10463

Responsibilities:

• Ensuring all clients and/or residents that are interested in a crafting project
• Assisting the activities staff as they need, such as preparation and clean up of supplies
• Assisting the clients and/or residents with the particular craft
• Ensuring the comfort of all residents and clients
• Foster an optimistic environment of kindness, community, mutual respect, and effective communication with all guests, staff, and volunteers
• Brainstorming art/crafts ideas

• Providing a creative outlet for community members to express themselves

Sustained Outcomes:

• Creating art keeps your mind stimulated and can help prevent emotional illnesses
• Creating something through arts and crafts can give you a sense of competence and greater self-esteem

Qualifications:

• Must be dependable, patient, and punctual
  
  
• Open-minded and artistic abilities
  
• Must be 16+ years old to apply
  
  
• A positive, friendly, and non-judgmental approach
  
  
• Spanish is a plus
  
  

Day & Time Commitment:

• Friday’s | 1:00 - 2:00pm
