Volunteers will assist with the day-to-day running of the food pantry, and a well-stocked, hygienic food pantry. As a gentle reminder, please wear closed-toed shoes for the pantry. Location: 3450 Mosholu Montefiore Community Center, The Bronx, NY 10467 Responsibilities: Keep food pantry clean and organized Assist Food Pantry Supervisor in stocking shelves Ensure that food quality is maintained through appropriate sorting activities, and communicate and issues to Food Pantry Supervisor Assist Food Pantry Supervisor as needed Foster an optimistic environment of kindness, community, mutual respect, and effective communication with all guests, staff, and volunteers Initial Impact: Volunteers will be contributing to reducing hunger and food insecurity in our community Sustained Outcomes: Helping to improve the lives of community members by providing food security and supporting services Qualifications: Must be dependable and punctual Ability to lift 20+ pounds Must be 16+ years old to apply A positive, friendly, and non-judgmental approach Bilingual in Spanish, English, or Bengali is a plus Day & Time Commitment: Monday - Thursday | 10:00am - 3:00pm MMCC COVID-19 Policy: By September 13th, 2021- All workers and volunteers must provide proof they are vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus OR provide results of weekly COVID-19 tests as a condition of employment or volunteering. By October 4th, 2021- All workers and volunteers must provide proof of at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine. Therefore, the weekly COVID-19 tests will no longer be an available option as a condition of employment or volunteering. MMCC Child Development Center Volunteer Under the general supervision of CDC staff, volunteers will assist CDC social service office, helping the family and workers with filling and other office duties. Volunteers will assist CDC Chef in the kitchen, helping to prep and serve meals to the kids. Volunteers must be 15-17 to volunteer with the CDC. Location: 3450 Dekalb Ave, Bronx, New York 10467 Responsibilities: Filling and organizing CDC office Help serve meals to CDC kids Assist with food preparation, safe handling, and temperature control for participants’ meals Responsible for cleaning the equipment and utensils in work areas, including ovens, worktables, mixing and slicing machines, and refrigerators/freezers in the absence of the porter/dishwasher Also included are; the dining room, storeroom, and closets areas Perform other duties, as assigned Qualifications: Open to learning new skills Computer skills A positive, friendly, and non-judgmental approach Day & Time Commitment: Monday - Fridays Shifts: 8:30am - 11:30am & 11:30am - 2:30pm Training Required: On your first day volunteering, CDC staff will guide you Benefits: Supporting Mosholu Montefiore Community Center’s mission of building community and improving the quality of life of Bronx and Manhattan residents through humanitarian efforts. Help our older adults learn how to operate various devices such as iPad, computers, laptops, and smartphones, and help navigate social media. Volunteers will get paired off with an older adult for a one-on-one or help teach a small group. This opportunity has transitioned to in-person.
