Volunteer Relations Manager
Vecinos Unidos Neighbors United (VU) is seeking a Volunteer Relations Manager to lead recruitment and retention of the volunteers necessary to grow our after-school tutoring program. The Volunteer Relations Manager would become a member of the all-volunteer VU Board of Directors with a functional responsibility to manage a volunteer recruitment and retention strategy. The contributor is very proactive, self-motivated, community-driven, and comfortable working remotely. We are a close-knit volunteer organization, looking for somebody who is excited about helping us build the volunteer base necessary to see the program grow and thrive.
About VU
VU is a non-profit volunteer organization based in Herndon, Virginia. We provide free homework assistance and enrichment to elementary school students who do not speak English as their first language at home. Founded in 1997 as an organization dedicated to providing children with safe and engaging after-school activities, we are committed to helping students with many barriers overcome academic achievement gaps. We currently have a long waitlist of students looking to join our program and the single limitation to growth is the number of volunteers we can recruit and retain. Many of our students start out several grades behind in reading, writing and math yet with the support from VU, they experience improved academic success and greater confidence in their ability to learn and achieve.
