Mission Statement: To provide community outreach by educating the whole child through homework assistance, mentoring and enrichment activities that assist children in meeting the challenges of growing into adulthood. The goals of Vecinos Unidos are to: Provide a safe environment where children can develop skills that include social interaction with, tolerance of and a respect for other individuals. Provide a learning environment where children can seek assistance with homework and projects, expand their academic skills and develop into lifelong learners. Provide a nurturing environment where students can develop competency, resiliency, and resourcefulness. Provide a supportive environment to foster civility, integrity, and compassion.
Vecinos Unidos is a seventeen year old community based nonprofit organization with two components; an after school Homework Assistance Program (HAP) and its accompanying summer program.
Staffed entirely by volunteers and funded solely by donations and grants, HAP assists students with their daily homework and school projects. The Summer Program offers a wealth of different activities for students including educational field trips that emphasize Standards of Learning (SOL); cooking lessons that incorporate creativity and math concepts; arts and crafts that promote cooperation, teamwork and individual expression; and games that foster positive decision making.
Vecinos Unidos Neighbors United accepts donations. Donate Now.
