We rely on volunteers to ensure our House provides a friendly, supportive environment for our guest families.
BECOME A FRONT DESK VOLUNTEER
Support our "home-away-from-home" atmosphere. As a volunteer, you may answer the telephone, prepare for our programs, check families in and out, do some light housekeeping and accommodate the general needs of the families. After a screening process, we'll give you the training you need. Shifts are available all day every day of the year.
DRIVERS
We need drivers to pick up donations around the county. We have vehicles and will provide the gas! Drivers must be at least 21 years old, have current proof of insurance, and pass a DMV authorization.
COOK IT UP!
Volunteers prepare and serve meals or bake special treats like muffins or cookies at your house or ours. We always appreciate fresh fruit or vegetable trays for our families!
ASSIST AT SPECIAL EVENTS
Great for groups, adults
We have several events throughout the year, including some annual favorites: House" Raffle, Golf Tournament, Gala, Table for Tots, Poker Run. Help with these fundraisers and more or become a part of our fundraising committee.
HELP MAKE THE RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE SHINE
We need volunteers to help with maintaining the house through painting, power-washing, receiving donations, and other handy projects. We also need volunteers in guest services to help us get rooms ready for guests by sanitizing, organizing,and housekeeping.
Please Note: Ronald McDonald House does not offer opportunities to fulfill court-ordered community service.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego provides a "home away from home" for families with children being treated for serious, often life-threatening conditions at local hospitals.
Description
At San Diego’s Ronald McDonald House, we know that children need their parents to be strong. We provide an essential "home away from home" where families may take care of their own basic needs while remaining just minutes from their child's hospital bedside. Research shows that when families stay close to their hospitalized child, the child heals faster and the family copes better. This year, we’ll house over 1,500 families, providing meals, computer access, laundry and exercise facilities, and much more, all in an environment where families may connect with others who understand what they’re going through. Depending on their child’s condition, families may stay at our House for days, weeks, or even months at a time.
