As an organization grounded in the Latino community of Washington State, it is the mission of El Centro de la Raza (The Center for People of All Races) to build the Beloved Community through unifying all racial and economic sectors; to organize, empower, and defend the basic human rights of our most vulnerable and marginalized populations; and to bring critical consciousness, justice, dignity, and equity to all the peoples of the world. El Centro de la Raza's Business Opportunity Center (BOC) is looking for a 2021-22 AmeriCorps member to serve as Assistant for their Youth Job Readiness Training (YJRT) Program. The Assistant will strengthen the capacity of YJRT participants to learn the necessary tools in being able to find employment. They will also support participants and their families with their transition to the United States and help students find their way to a self-sustaining livable salary career. The YJRT Program Assistant will also work with staff and participants to establish partnerships, job placements and maintain relationships with job sites, provide class instruction, case management to students and assist with recruitment as needed.

Requirements:

  • B.A. Degree.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both in written and oral contexts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with Latino community and/or diverse communities.
  • WA State Driver’s License, vehicle, and proof of insurability.
  • Able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

2021-22 AmeriCorps placements begin on September 1. The position is open until filled.
