Position: Mentoring Program Coordinator AmeriCorps VISTA Member
Supervisors: Team Up Outreach Coordinator
Supervisees: none

Duties: Under the direction of the Team Up Outreach Coordinator and within the limitations of agency policy, the incumbent shall execute the following duties:

General:

· Build capacity and sustain ability in Team Up youth mentoring program.

· Help create a more equitable community through your service year with AmeriCorps.

· Assist the Team Up mentoring program in accordance with agency policy and the vision and mission of the program.

Specific duties include:

· Shadow the Outreach Coordinator and Match Support Specialist to gain a better understanding of our program and programmatic needs.

· Learn and expand our Electronic Health Recording keeping in alignment with Elements of Effective

· Improve understanding and streamline the online application process for mentors and mentees to grow program capacity.

· Update orientations, trainings, handbooks, and other materials for mentors, mentees and parent/guardians as needed according to best practices and current research.

· Develop your outreach and recruitment skills

* Effectively collaborate with other Team Up staff, interns and volunteers

* Relate well in multicultural environments and maintain confidentiality throughout daily operations

* Develop fundraising & marketing skills by participating community events & presentations

· Set foundation learning for grant application process and writing skills.

* Work collaboratively with the team to plan in-person and virtual monthly events for matches

* Assist in the collection program outcome assessments over the phone, via mail or in person

Qualifications: Undergraduate degree or some college experience encouraged; applicants should be enthusiastic, committed to the ethic of service and interested in serving in Virginia. Qualities sought after include strong computer skills or interest in computer software programs, good organizational skills; interpersonal, communication and writing skills are a plus; ability to work with others from a diverse background; as well as self-initiative, creativity, flexibility, and past experience in volunteering, mentoring, and/or within the nonprofit sector. Incumbent must possess:

· A valid driver’s license and working cell phone

· All customers and staff are required to wear masks and practice all ongoing safe behavioral practices.

This is a full-time volunteer position with additional benefits of AmeriCorps VISTA Service. The VISTA Member is paid an annual living stipend of $12,334. An approx. $6,000 education award or $1,800 cash stipend of appreciation presented at the end of a year of service. Federal student loan forbearance, Health care, childcare, life insurance and some relocation expenses are all available as well as training through AmeriCorps and MENTOR Virginia. AmeriCorps VISTA is the only AmeriCorps program that allows members to earn federal non-competitive eligibility (NCE), giving members an edge in the federal hiring process upon completion of their service year. The AmeriCorps VISTA position is Full time and yearlong, with a possibility of 2nd and 3rd year extensions. All compensation is provided by AmeriCorps.
