VTN (Volunteer Transportation Network) Volunteer drivers provide transportation for Veterans located within the Steele County area to and from their appointments at our Mankato CBOC, Albert Lea CBOC and Rochester CBOC. Drivers use a DAV supplied van to transport our Veterans and will start and end their day within Steele County. Shifts are Monday through Friday.

With current OSHA and VA safety policies and procedures during the COVID pandemic, all Volunteers are required to wear a medical face mask. VHA Directive 1193 and VA Handbook 5019 requires that Volunteers in this role have a documented COVID-19 vaccine and Flu vaccine.

Additionally, Volunteer drivers are required to wear a face mask during transport of patients who are also required to wear a face mask while in the vehicle. Volunteer drivers are also required to disinfect/sanitize the DAV vehicles between transports with provided supplies.

Volunteer drivers must:
Pass a basic physical exam with Minneapolis VA Occupation Health
Provide, and maintain, a copy of their safe driving record
Provide proof of personal automobile insurance
Consent to fingerprinting and successfully pass background check
Complete initial and annual training for VA medical center and DAV volunteer drivers
