Minneapolis VA Health Care System

VTN (Volunteer Transportation Network) Volunteer drivers provide transportation for Veterans located within the Virginia/Hibbing area to and from the Minneapolis VA Medical Center for their appointments. Drivers use a DAV supplied van to transport our Veterans to Minneapolis, start their day at pick up points in Hibbing at 6:00am, Virginia at 6:30am and end their day back at pick up points in Virginia/Hibbing. Shifts are Monday through Friday on EVEN days.

With current safety policies and procedures during the COVID pandemic, all who enter the facility are required to wear a face mask. Additionally, Volunteer drivers are required to wear a face mask during transport of patients who are also required to wear a face mask while in the vehicle. Volunteer drivers are also required to disinfect/sanitize the DAV vehicles between transports with provided supplies.

Volunteer drivers must:
Pass a basic physical exam with Minneapolis VA Occupation Health
Provide, and maintain, a copy of their safe driving record
Provide proof of personal automobile insurance
Consent to fingerprinting and successfully pass background check
Complete initial and annual training for VA medical center and DAV volunteer drivers
