QUICK OVERVIEW

K9 Youth Alliance (K9YA) is a small non-profit that is dedicated to empowering kids from under-resourced communities and helping abandoned dogs find loving homes.

We are currently looking to increase our capacity to serve by launching an ambitious grant funding campaign. We will need 1-2 volunteers to help us reach our goals.

IMPACT

The grant proposal volunteer will assist in securing vital funding to support K9 Youth Alliance's programs. Each program serves 6-15 young people and 6-12 abandoned shelter dogs.

VOLUNTEER ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a virtual, open-ended position. Days and times of work are flexible. Volunteers should expect to devote 5-10 hours per month. K9YA staff will provide the volunteer with a detailed orientation to the roles and responsibilities and will provide source material including prior grants to assist the volunteer in grant proposal development. K9YA staff will identify grant funding opportunities and will also consider opportunities the volunteer has identified if any. The volunteer will help develop and prepare all elements of the grant proposal (e.g., including letters of inquiry, narrative elements of the proposal, budget preparation), in advance of submission deadlines. The position works directly with the chair of the board's development committee and the executive director.

REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate will work well without supervision, have proficiency with persuasive grant writing, coordinate all aspects of the grant proposal, and will have excellent people skills. Experience with grant writing for nonprofits that serve youth and/or animals is a plus.

ACCESSIBILITY

The volunteer will edit/create documents on their device and should have ready access to email. Fluency with Dropbox and Google Drive for document sharing is encouraged.
