Volunteers needed in Meridian and Boise, ID (Kuna classes coming later this year)

The Family Strengthening Education Program encompasses the whole family in building Five Protective Factors that are known to help families thrive. The Protective Factors include social connections, knowledge of parenting and child development, social and emotional competencies of children, knowing about concrete support in times of need, and parental resiliency.

The Volunteer Parent Facilitator will assist the Family Strengthening Parent Development Coordinator in facilitating parent group. The parent facilitator will become familiar with the curriculum, 5 Protective Factors, and ACEs. The volunteer will take notes, help with activities and assist in debriefs. After volunteering in this capacity for the adequate length of time, this volunteer will be eligible to teach the Parenting Classes on their own, if that is their ambition.

To attend a short virtual Volunteer Information Meeting for more information, please contact us here: https://familyadvocates.org/contact-us/ or email our Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@familyadvocates.org

About Family Advocates

Location:

3010 W State St., Boise, ID 83703, US

Mission Statement

"Family Advocates works to strengthen families and keep kids safe by empowering everyday people to enrich the lives of youth." We are a private, independent 501 (c)(3) non-profit agency founded in 1978 and serve the fourth district of Idaho. This year, Family Advocates will provide a voice in court for over 1,100 children while providing family strengthening supports to nearly 1,200 additional family members. Our reach would not be possible without the support of our dedicated volunteers.

Description

Family Advocates trains and deploys over 500 volunteers each year to fulfill the demand of our child abuse and neglect prevention & intervention efforts throughout the 4th Judicial District of Idaho. Our CASA volunteers show us bravery by investigating child abuse, neglect, and abandonment and then advocating for those children in court to make sure the child’s voice is heard. Our Family Strengthening volunteers show us bravery by working with families to create strong networks and healthy habits through classes, activities, and more. Please visit our website for details about each program!
