The sole purpose of a CASA Guardian ad Litem is to advocate for the best interest of a child involved in the child protection system and are often the only constant person in the child's life while they are in the child protection system. CASA Guardians ad Litem, or GALs, are volunteers appointed by the court to advocate for the best interest of these children who have experienced neglect, abuse, or abandonment. The experience of the GAL can be emotional, challenging, and very rewarding. Judges in child protection rely on the information from GALs when making their decisions and the positive impact the GAL has on the rest of a child's life is immense. Guardians ad Litem must be at least 21 years old and able to pass a criminal background check. We are in need of volunteers in Ada, Elmore, Boise, and Valley counties.
