MHV Volunteers are essential in supporting the registration, enrollment and patient education of use of the Patient Portal, MyHealtheVet, and other Veteran specific technologies.

MHV Volunteers ideally possess moderate computer skills, basic knowledge of alternate devices (cell phones/tablets), have an interest in Veteran education and possess friendly, calm, patient customer service skills. They are willing to participate in outreach opportunities within the Medical Center and occasionally outside VA outreach events. They will protect PHI/PII at all times.

MyHealtheVet Volunteers will assist Veterans with registering an account in the MHV portal, guide how to upgrade and authenticate their MHV account, assist with MHV password resets and troubleshooting and will provide education on using the MHV portal including ordering VA medications, viewing/requesting/scheduling a VA appointment, sending/opening/replying to secure messages and how to find their VA generated health records, labs, tests and procedures.

VHA Directive 1193 and VA Handbook 5019 requires that Volunteers in this role have a documented COVID-19 vaccine and Flu vaccine.

Current openings for MHV Volunteers are:

Thursdays 10:00am - 2:00pm
