Thank you for considering volunteering with Encompass Health - Hospice in Marshall County, AL. We are seeking individuals of faith to serve as spiritual care volunteers meeting with hospice patients and their families to provide spiritual support. Volunteers are matched to patients of the same faith and spiritual background. Volunteers are welcomed to sing hymns, do devotions, or, and provide prayer, etc. wishes. You will receive additional training and guidance by the Encompass chaplain. Lay persons are welcome to volunteer as well.
Volunteers must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19
NO medical experience needed, volunteers DO NOT perform "hands on" care. By being there, you will also give patients support through socialization and companionship. Volunteer commitment is flexible to volunteer’s schedule. Volunteers are welcome to provide assistance during the day, after hours, or on weekends. The Volunteer Coordinator will mentor volunteers until they comfortable and confident to volunteer independently.
Requirements
We provide a comprehensive, free training for all of our volunteers. Volunteers must complete the application and orientation processes, which include background screenings, a valid driver’s license, and proof of auto insurance. Volunteers must have reliable transportation. Volunteers must be organized, have the ability to multitask, complete written documentation and be self-motivated to work independently. A time log will be provided for documentation of donated time. Jr. volunteers ages 14-18 may volunteer as long as they are accompanied and supervised by an adult volunteer. Volunteers must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19

Enhabit Health-Hospice seeks kind individuals to support patients and families during a most difficult time.
At Enhabit Health we foster a culture of compassion and collaboration encouraging and empowering each employee and volunteer to keep learning and growing together. Our compassionate end-of-life care is provided in the patient’s home, whether that is a home address, nursing home, assisted living community, independent living community or other location. It focuses on the physical, spiritual and emotional needs of both the individual patient and our patients’ loved ones: caregivers, spouses, children, extended family and friends.
