Veteran/Military volunteers needed for veteran hospice patients in Marshall County, AL Thank you for considering volunteering with Enhabit Health - Hospice! There are many opportunities for military and veterans to volunteers to serve hospice patients in Marshall County. We are looking for military and veterans to honor and provide companionship to hospice patients who are also military veterans. Family members of veterans are welcome to serve too. Volunteerism is flexible to volunteer’s schedule. You can volunteer as a group or on your own. Patients who are Veterans that would benefit from companionship and veteran-to-veteran camaraderie. Volunteers are also needed to assist with honoring hospice veterans for their service with veteran pinning ceremonies and delivering veteran certificates. At Enhabit, we appreciate our Veteran patients and desire for them to receive full care, honor, and dignity at the end of their lives. Volunteers are welcome to help during the day, after hours, or on weekends. Volunteer commitment is flexible to volunteer’s schedule. Requirements We provide free training for all our volunteers. We prepare our volunteers to understand the complexity of issues and feelings that surround hospice care and end of life. Our care process is designed to maximize our patient’s quality of life and offer our patients and their love ones comfort, support and guidance when facing a terminal illness. Therefore, volunteers must complete the application and orientation processes. To ensure the safety of patients and volunteers Enhabit will do background screenings, and require volunteers to provide a valid driver’s license, proof of auto insurance. Volunteers must be vaccinated for COVID-19 or have an approved religious and medical exemption. A 2-step TB skin test is required and will be provided by Enhabit. Volunteers must have reliable transportation, must be dependable, and can complete written documentation. Jr. volunteers ages 14-18 may volunteer in the patient’s home if they are accompanied and supervised by an adult volunteer (parent or guardian). Thank you for considering volunteer with Enhabit Health - Hospice in Marshall County Alabama! Administrative Volunteers serve our hospice patients and their families by doing many different tasks that do not include face to face interaction with our patients. Your experience will be valuable, engaging, and make a huge impact to the patients and families we serve. Examples include but are not limited to: Putting together goodie bags for patient’s birthday celebrations Preparing appreciation certificates for Veterans Working on "thinking of you" or holiday cards to patients Assisting the Volunteer Coordinator with event planning, Assembling information packets for patients and their families. Preparing bereavement mailings Assisting in the branch office Requirements & Time commitment Requirements We provide free training for all of our volunteers. Special Project Volunteers needed for hospice patients in Marshall Co., AL Special Project volunteers use their talents to support Enhabit hospice patients indirectly through arts, crafts, gifts, baking, having donation drives for patients, and etc. Tasks can be completed at home, delivered to office or picked up by staff. Items will be delivered by a staff member to a patients. We welcome students, individuals, churches, organizations, and families to participate as Special Project Volunteers. If you have a group looking for a project or have a special talent/ skill you’d like to utilize, call us to arrange a special project. Opportunities include but are not limited to: Homemade cards, or crafts, Make lap blankets, prayer shawls, "busy blankets" for patients with dementia Sew a memory bear, pillow or quilt made from a loved ones’ articles of clothes for a bereaved caregivers Prepare items, such flowers arrangements or goodie bags for special events for patients such as birthday celebrations Bake cakes, cookies for celebrations birthdays, anniversaries, and/or holidays. Donate bulk items or completed gift bags with items for patients such as: lotion, hand sanitizer, tissues, chap stick, brush/comb, essential oils, Deck of cards, crossword puzzle, coloring book with colors, poems/small books, Socks with skid proof bottoms, blankets, small pillows with pillow cases, gloves, hats, art for walls or side tables Donate nonperishable food items for staff to deliver to patients The possibilities are endless We look forward to hearing from you today! Tidy up Homes / Housekeeping Volunteers needed for hospice patients in Marshall, County Alabama Thank you for considering volunteering with Enhabit Health - Hospice! We are looking for volunteers to serve hospice patients in their homes in Marshall County, by preform free household tasks, such as: sweeping, mopping, dusting, laundry, and washing dishes etc. Tasks are limited to your preference big or small. NO medical experience needed, volunteers DO NOT perform "hands on" care. Requirements We provide free training for all of our volunteers. We prepare our volunteers to understand the complexity of issues and feelings that surround hospice care and end of life. Our care process is designed to maximize our patient’s quality of life and offer our patients and their love ones comfort, support and guidance when facing a terminal illness.
