Administrative Hospice Volunteers in Marshall Co., Al Thank you for considering volunteer with Enhabit Health - Hospice in Marshall County Alabama! Administrative Volunteers serve our hospice patients and their families by doing many different tasks that do not include face to face interaction with our patients. Your experience will be valuable, engaging, and make a huge impact to the patients and families we serve. Examples include but are not limited to: Putting together goodie bags for patient’s birthday celebrations Preparing appreciation certificates for Veterans Working on "thinking of you" or holiday cards to patients Assisting the Volunteer Coordinator with event planning, Assembling information packets for patients and their families. Preparing bereavement mailings Assisting in the branch office Requirements & Time commitment We provide free training for all of our volunteers. Volunteers will complete the application and orientation process, which include background screenings, a valid driver’s license, and proof of auto insurance and proof of COVID-19 vaccination. A 2-step TB skin test is required and will be provided by Enhabit. Volunteers must have reliable transportation, must be dependable, and have the ability to complete written documentation. Volunteer commitment is ongoing, and flexible to volunteer’s schedule. Jr. volunteers ages 14-18 may volunteer as long as they are accompanied and supervised by an adult volunteer. Teen Volunteers needed to make a difference in the life of hospice patients in Marshall County, AL Enhabit Hospice in Marshall County has opportunities for students to earn volunteer hours with Volunteer Services. Volunteer’s touch lives by offering non-medical support to patients and their families. The hospice team includes staff and volunteers, who work together to improve their quality of life. Our volunteers make a difference in their lives through companionship, spiritual and emotional support, calls, visits, running errands, yardwork, celebrating holidays and numerous other ways. Junior Volunteers are required to be at least 14 years old and complete training, a background check, parental consent, be fully vaccinated for COVID. 2-step TB skin test and drug screen all paid for by Enhabit. Junior Volunteers must also have the ability to work independently, be organized, have a mature disposition, and the ability complete written documentation. Jr. Volunteers may assist in the office without an adult guardian present; the Volunteer Coordinator will provide appropriate supervision. However, Junior Volunteers, who have direct contact with patients, must have an adult volunteer accompany them to a home or facility. The adult must complete the requirements to become a volunteer with Enhabit as well. All volunteers must have reliable transportation. If you would like to do a special project for patients, indirectly through arts, gifts, baking, food drives or in other ways please contact me. Although it is preferred, special project volunteers do not have to meet the above requirements. Projects can be completed at home, and delivered to our office. We welcome students, individuals, and families to participate. The experience that students gain will be valuable, engaging, and make a huge impact to the patients and families. Thank you for considering volunteer service with Enhabit Hospice. There are many opportunities for our volunteers to interact directly and serve hospice patients in Marshall County. Therapy Dogs can provide emotional support for patients in end of life care and thereby contribute toward a better quality of life. Enhabit requires Therapy Dogs to be certified by a Veterinarian to be medically fit and to have the appropriate temperament to remain calm and has received certification from an Obedience School. Only dogs which are certified to be medically fit, are current with all required vaccinations, have a calm temperament, are at least 1 year old, not in heat, and have documentation of successfully completing obedience training shall be allowed to visit the selected patients. Dogs must be certified by their own Veterinarian as being in good health, including general dental health. All dog vaccinations must be current. The dog must be bathed and well-groomed prior to making visits. . Handler (Pet Owner) Requirements All handlers are required to meet all volunteer requirements, including but not limited to orientation, documentation and complying with company policies. All costs for pet health care, including the initial exam will be the responsibility of the pet owner/handler. The dog must be under the direct and continuous supervision and control of the volunteer handler at all times. Volunteers are trained to go into a hospice patient’s home and provide non-medical support through socialization and companionship. Volunteers are welcome to provide assistance during the day, after hours, or on weekends. Volunteer commitment is flexible to volunteer’s schedule. Requirements We provide free training for all of our volunteers. We prepare our volunteers to understand the complexity of issues and feelings that surround hospice care and end of life. Our care process is designed to maximize our patient’s quality of life and offer our patients and their love ones comfort, support and guidance when facing a terminal illness. Therefore, volunteers must complete the application and orientation processes. To ensure the safety of patients and volunteers Enhabit will do background screenings, and require volunteers to provide a valid driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, and proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Spiritual Care Volunteer for hospice patients in Marshall Co. Thank you for considering volunteering with Enhabit Health - Hospice! We are seeking individuals of faith to serve and meet with hospice patients and/or their families to provide spiritual care. Volunteers are matched to patients of the same faith and spiritual background. Volunteers are welcomed to sing hymns, do devotions, and have prayer, etc. You will receive additional training and guidance by the Enhabit chaplain. Laypersons of faith are welcome to volunteer. By being there, you will also give patients support through socialization and companionship. Volunteers are welcome to provide assistance during the day, after hours, or on weekends. NO medical experience needed, volunteers DO NOT perform "hands on" care. Volunteer commitment is flexible to volunteer’s time and schedule. Requirements We provide free training for all of our volunteers. Home Repairman Handy Man/ Woman to Volunteers for Hospice patients in Marshall County Thank you for considering volunteering with Enhabit (formerly Encompass) Health - Hospice! We are looking for volunteers to assist hospice patients at their homes in Marshall County, help with small household tasks, and repairs. We need volunteers who are experienced in any of the following: construction, electrical, home repairs, heating & air conditioning, carpentry, appliance repairs, plumbing, painting, and janitorial maintenance. By being there, you will also give patients support through socialization and companionship. Requirements Volunteers are welcome to provide assistance during the day, after hours, or on weekends. Volunteer commitment is flexible to volunteer’s schedule. We provide free training for all of our volunteers. To ensure that our volunteers are equipped for the challenge of hospice, to maintain safety of our patients, as well as the volunteer they are required to complete the application and orientation processes.
