Do you have a passion and vision for helping women and women in recovery from substance abuse? Since 1977, New Directions for Women in Costa Mesa, CA has helped more than 5,000 women, 600 children and seen 200 babies born on our 4 acre campus near the back bay of Newport Beach.

We are looking for volunteers to serve on our Development Committee who may have high level experience helping other organizations with their fundraising and efforts in the community efforts.

Someone who might enjoy serving on this committee with others might answer yes to questions like this:
Do you have experience at your company working on social philanthropy projects?

Do you have experience managing or serving on an event committee for things like galas, golf tournaments, concerts, etc.?

Do write grants or understand the grant writing process?

Are you involved in for profit sales and excel at identifying prospects who can become large customers?

Do have a lot of contacts in the community?

Do you or someone you know have the capacity to make a large gift or matching gift that inspires others?
Have you organized volunteer groups before?

Are you a good storyteller who can help share the mission of NDFW in the community?

Does your company require or ask that you serve on a non-profit board or committee?

Do you have the ability or background to help with planned giving or a capital campaign?

Mission Statement

New Directions for Women is a safe, caring and sensitive residential treatment facility. By providing exceptional, gender-specific addiction treatment services that are grounded in the 12-Step principles, New Directions assists women, their families and their children to achieve sustained responsible recovery.

Description

We believe in treating the whole woman in affordable sanctuary where she finds independence and support while healing the wounds inflicted by addiction. Our program is creative, invitational and employs proactive treatment methods to meet the special treatment needs of each patient and their family.

Our gender-specific, culturally relevant treatment consists of a variety of proven programs. We teach our patients how to live a more holistic life and coach them on relapse prevention skills. Our program provides successive levels of residential care from Primary to Extended Care services in which our patients have the opprtunity to learn necessary skills and coping mechanisms to live as sober, recovering women.

REQUIREMENTS

  • We meet quarterly (right now via Zoom) for one hour. We are a working committee and do ask that our committee members spend an hour or more a week helping with our fundraising efforts. We ask that you attend and support our main events and campaigns.
