Facilitators and co-facilitators will work together to create safe spaces where survivors can share their experiences, thoughts and feelings surrounding domestic violence and/or sexual assault.
Facilitators and co-facilitators will:
*Coordinate support group meetings with participants (sending reminder emails, Zoom links if applicable)
*Open and close the meetings, be responsible for managing group time
*Create a welcoming atmosphere for participants and set the tone for the discussion
*Use provided curriculum to facilitate discussion and opportunities for educational and emotional peer support.
*Connect participants to other NSNV approved resources as needed
*Deal with any problems/issues that come up during meetings
*Maintain sign in sheets and general reporting of hours volunteered
*Follow up with new participants to welcome them to the group and ensure connection
*Follow up with participants as needed
*Possibly help to find a safe space to hold the meetings
Online support groups are also a possibility and can be discussed one on one with potential group facilitators. We would like to see our support groups grow to be able to provide support to those who English is a second language, LGBTQ, teens etc.
We will provide training, facilitator curriculum, ongoing support and education.
