ORGANIZATION: BLACK - Building Leadership And Community Knowledge

Investigative Reporters prepare/write articles/stories/exposes on topics related to national, state and local community issues or events and/or BLACK's activities. Topics may be suggested by Media Relations staff and board members, advisory committee or by volunteers. The newsletter is published monthly.

The newsletter is emailed to community residents, partners and businesses in the United States. The Newsletter is also posted on the website. All articles written by volunteers are submitted to the Media Director and Executive Director for review. The Media staff members are also available to help generate ideas or provide data if necessary. The amount of time spent on an article varies by the length of the article and by the reporter’s work preferences. Investigative Reporters may conduct interviews on podcasts, radio and TV programs.

Deadlines must be strictly observed. All media volunteers are invited to the organization’s events, receive a copy of the newsletter and receive credit in BLACK’s Annual Report. Articles are also published in the online versions of the Trib Local (Chicago Tribune) and Evanston Patch (Pioneer Press)
