ORGANIZATION: CIVIC WORKS

people-eating

People are hungry for community! This is a genuinely fun opportunity to reach out to those in local neighborhoods, ask what their needs or interests are, and support people wanting to hold house parties, potlucks, storytelling nights and more! We have a software platform we can use and some funds to pay local cooks and provide support for outreach.

The goal of this effort is to build community in an inclusive way and in the process find out if there are unmet needs in your local neighborhood. We are also looking at bringing in mentors and presenters who have experience in bringing people together in a creative way - such as unconference-style meetings or with art.

The specific approach will be tailored to the volunteer and the community. We have a survey instrument we can use, but we may want to be less formal.

About CIVIC WORKS

Location:

10923 Progress Court #3326, Rancho Cordova, CA 95741, US

Mission Statement

We created civ.works as a platform for all of us to work together to overcome the corrupting influence of money in politics. Together we can address bad policy, legislation and to hold all of our elected officials accountable. For democracy to work -our government must represent "We the People". civ.works: Together. We can.

Description

civ.works is a privacy protected social platform built for meaningful civic action.

The concept of civ.works is to finally provide a societal machine to stand up against something created nearly 50 years ago -and begin the process of empowering citizens again. We are building a platform together -against an incredibly mature and well-funded machine. Your volunteer efforts will be helping us collectively build something powerful and important.
