Mission Statement

We created civ.works as a platform for all of us to work together to overcome the corrupting influence of money in politics. Together we can address bad policy, legislation and to hold all of our elected officials accountable. For democracy to work -our government must represent "We the People". civ.works: Together. We can.

Description

civ.works is a privacy protected social platform built for meaningful civic action.

The concept of civ.works is to finally provide a societal machine to stand up against something created nearly 50 years ago -and begin the process of empowering citizens again. We are building a platform together -against an incredibly mature and well-funded machine. Your volunteer efforts will be helping us collectively build something powerful and important.

I have been involved with Civic Works for a while now and I absolutely love it! The people I work with are very helpful and motivate me to be more in touch with human rights and the families that are hurting. I have met so many new people and we are always looking out for each other to help in anyway possible. We are able to make connections with people from different states and across the globe.

I have been volunteering here since graduating from university. I was given responsibilities, deadlines, and leadership opportunities which helped to build and hone different skills that can be implemented in many different areas of work. I was put into contact with the Uyghur families that the group has been representing, and given a lot of freedom as to how I wanted to approach advocating to different entities (government, nonprofit/NGO's, news, etc.). While I have been here the group has always been supportive, knowledgable, and communicative, and I have been lucky enough to work on multiple projects within the scope of advocating for disappeared peoples in China and Saudi Arabia. If you are a self starter, want to gain valuable experience, and interact with caring people I would recommend volunteering here.

Civic Works, is an inspiring low pressure non-profit social network created for civic action. The team leading the collective movement is extremely accommodating and supportive. It is a fantastic organization empowering citizens by developing a platform for Volunteers with various skills and interests to contribute. I highly recommend inquiring about how you can support this group.
