Our indoor plant volunteers assist library by keeping the plants in the public areas (and some in specific staff areas) in good health, making the library a more pleasant place for both staff and patrons to enjoy.

Qualifications:

  • Green thumb required. Previous plant care experience is a plus.
  • Willingness to commit to a consistent schedule.

Responsible to: Outreach Librarian and Volunteer Coordinator

Branch Manager at Carlson

Responsibilities:

  1. Maintenance of all indoor plants not directly belonging to / being cared for by specific staff.
  2. Watering, pruning, fertilizing, repotting as necessary.
  3. Requesting materials such as fertilizer or potting soil as needed.
  4. Arrangement of library personal back up in volunteer’s absence.

Time Commitment: After initial training, 1 to 2 hours twice weekly, as needed

Length of Commitment: Minimum one year

Grounds for Termination (including, but not limited to):

  • Failure to complete training program
  • Failure to carry out assigned responsibilities
  • Breach of confidentiality

A primary service the library provides is our Outreach Program that brings library resources to citizens who aren't able to visit the library. The Outreach program is primarily staffed by volunteers.
