Summary : The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for managing and overseeing the recruitment of volunteers for The Bitty Kitty Brigade (BKB), the arrangement of volunteer training and service, the maintenance of volunteer records, and communication and coordination of volunteer activities.


Duties and Responsibilities :


  • Manages or oversees the recruitment of skills-based volunteers through BKB’s website, other online sources, print media, community calendars, public speaking, and attendance at events.
  • Maintains electronic volunteer and foster applications and records. Ensures that records are complete, accessible, and secure. Maintains list of current active BKB volunteers and logs their skills and abilities.
  • Acts as liaison between BKB and corporate volunteer groups. Identifies projects appropriate for group activities and coordinates work between the group and BKB volunteers.
  • Develops and cultivates positive community relationships.
  • Provides volunteer activity reports to Executive Leadership.
  • Provides current program and skills-based needs reports to Executive Leadership.
  • Replies to new applicant inquiries within 48 hours and completes initial phone screening of applicants as scheduling allows or oversees this process.
  • Schedules and attends skills-based volunteer orientation training sessions as needed.
  • Works with other Directors to help ensure adequate volunteer staffing for programs, administrative functions, and on/off-site events.

Knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to perform essential job duties :


  • Coordination with volunteer leadership
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong telephone and interpersonal skills
  • One or more years of volunteer management or coordination experience preferable
  • Detail-oriented and resourceful
  • Organization, time management, and prioritization skills to manage multiple tasks
  • Proficiency in Google Docs and Google Sheets
  • Data entry and reporting skills
  • Active or willing to be on Facebook to communicate with volunteers

Work Environment and Time Commitment :


The Volunteer Coordinator is a 2-4 hour per week position. Most work will be performed remotely; some travel to events is requested..

Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide care for orphaned neonatal kittens and to partner with rescue organizations and impound facilities to improve survival rates.

Description

The Bitty Kitty Brigade (BKB) is an all volunteer, foster-based rescue for orphaned neonatal kittens. We provide around the clock foster care for bottle babies ages 0-6 weeks. Once kittens have been weaned, they are transferred to another foster to be cared for until they reach adoption age.

BKB provides food, litter, supplies and medical care for the kittens. Kittens are dewormed, vaccinated, microchipped, FeLV tested and spay/neutered prior to adoption. We are funded by donations and grants. We rely on the public to help us provide kitten formula, kitten food, supplies and quality veterinary care.

BKB foster caregivers complete several rounds of training prior to receiving their first foster kittens and are paired with a mentor to provide on-going education and support.

Our Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) team, The Birth Control Brigade, follow a process to sterilize community cats, improve their lives and end the reproductive cycle that leads to kittens being orphaned or surrendered to shelters.
