Our Opportunity:
Picnic in Your Park, hosted by Gateway Arch Park Foundation’s Friends Advisory Board, celebrates the beauty of Gateway Arch National Park while raising awareness and critical funds for park conservation, preservation, education, and community programs through the purchase of a gourmet picnic in the park.
This position consists of several opportunities including:
- Event Set-Up Volunteers : The duties of this position include setting up tables, tents, and signs around downtown and throughout Gateway Arch National Park from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Check-in Volunteers : The duties of this position include greeting guests, checking them in, and directing them to pick up their baskets from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
- Greeters : The duties of this position may include greeting guests as they arrive at the park, giving directions on how and where to pick up their baskets, and answering or finding someone to answer any questions they have. Greeters will be stationed in pairs around downtown and the park from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
- Event Tear -Down Volunteers: The duties of this position include taking down tables, tents, and signs around downtown and throughout Gateway Arch National Park and helping store the items at the Foundation offices from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Volunteers must be 18 or older. As representatives of The National Park Service and Gateway Arch Park Foundation, volunteers must adhere to the policies, procedures, and code of conduct as outlined in the volunteer handbook provided prior to or during training.
Required Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:
- Excellent customer service
- Familiarity with downtown St. Louis and Gateway Arch National Park grounds
- Enthusiasm, friendliness, and a positive attitude
- Respect for confidentiality of the Gateway Arch Park Foundation’s volunteers, partners, members, and donors
- Willingness to take initiative and voice ideas
Commitment:
Sunday, May 15, 2022, with various shifts from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Location:
Gateway Arch National Park at 11 N. 4 th Street. Event Check-in location at the North Gateway. Other positions throughout the park. Free parking is available in the Kiener West Garage at 604 Pine St.
Training and Supervision:
- Attend 1-hour training session a week before the event takes place. (date and time to be determined)
Volunteer Perks:
- Contribute to a national monument, Gateway Arch National Park!
- Annual general membership to Gateway Arch Park Foundation (40+ hours)
- Annual volunteer recognition event
- Free parking if needed during volunteer hours
