TEDXSeattle

TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxSeattle , where x = independently organized TED event.

TEDxSeattle is one of the first and longest running TEDx events in the world. Now we are proud to say it is one of the largest as well. What started in 2010 as a single-day event called TEDxRainier with an audience of 600 people has evolved into TEDxSeattle with an audience that (pre-pandemic) fills McCaw Hall’s 2,800 seat auditorium.

After the TEDxSeattle main event, TEDxSeattleWomen is our most popular and largest event. In fact, in 2020, our virtual event drew over 3,500 registrations and 1,500 live viewers. In 2021 and into the future, we plan to continue to grow this event and we are looking for a strategic Co-Organizer to help us on this journey.

Why participate? Gain the satisfaction of being a critical part of a large, influential event tied to a global brand. Open doors with the Seattle business community of thinkers and doers. Get a powerful resume builder. Serve as an integral part of a supportive, passion-driven volunteer-run community. Be involved with an organization offering a long track record of game-changing events and building community.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the growth of the TEDxSeattleWomen team, including recruiting and onboarding team members & building processes to ensure the team is operating effectively.
  • Manage the overall event budget, including evaluating vendors, setting ticket prices, and working with the Partnerships team to ensure your team has sufficient funds to cover event costs.
  • Coordinate and run regular team meetings
  • Define operational calendar/workback schedule for the year
  • Work with cross-functional teams (marketing, sponsorships, production, etc.) to accomplish deliverables on time.
  • Identify speakers and entertainers for the event and ensure they are successful.

Experience

  • Strong project management skills
  • 5+ years of event management experience
  • 3+ years experience leading cross-functional team
  • Proven track record of scaling events year-over-year
  • Experience in growing teams (including hiring, building team structures, and implementing processes)

Time Commitment

  • 6-10 hours/week
